Background

The general election in Italy at a glance

Since the 2020 reduction the Chamber of Deputies has 400 seats. Elections use the Rosatellum: three eighths of the seats in single-member constituencies by plurality, the rest via lists with a three per cent threshold. Running as a coalition brings big advantages in the constituencies.

Since October 2022 Giorgia Meloni has governed with Fratelli d'Italia, Lega, Forza Italia and Noi Moderati. Azione and Italia Viva ran as a joint list in 2022 and have been polled separately since.

Italy has the densest polling landscape in Europe: SWG, Tecnè, YouTrend, Termometro Politico, EMG and Eumetra publish almost weekly, so a 30-day window is enough for the average.
